Citizens of Argentina, Australia, Canada, Chile, Japan, New Zealand, Peru, Republic of Korea and United States of America who wish to remain in Portugal, on holidays, for a maximum period of 12 months, under a Memorandum of Understanding signed between their country and Portugal, should fulfill the general requirements, as well as the documents referring to specific requirements necessary for the processing of a temporary stay visa.
Argentina
-
Argentinian citizen, residing in Argentina;

Hold a valid Argentinian passport;
-
Be between eighteen (18) and thirty (30) years of age both inclusive, on the date of the application;
-
Will not be accompanied by family dependents;
-
Possess sufficient financial resources to support travel and the duration of their stay, including proof of return ticket or proof of means of subsistence;
-
Hold a travel insurance and health insurance valid for the duration of the stay covering hospital costs and medical repatriation;
-
Have no criminal record and allow criminal record verification;
-
Hold tertiary qualifications, or have successfully completed at least two (2) years of undergraduate university study.
Additional conditions to be fulfilled:

Not have previously taken part in the Program;
-
Staying for over 12 months will not be allowed;
-
Work is incidental to the holiday. Participants cannot work for more than six (6) months or have a permanent work contract;
-
The participation in training courses or professional development courses is allowed for the duration of up to six (6) months.
Australia
-
Be an Australian citizen and hold a valid australian passort;

Be between eighteen (18) and thirty-one (31) years of age inclusive, on the date of the application;
-
Will not be accompanied by dependent children;
-
Possess sufficient financial resources to support travel and the duration of their stay, including proof of return ticket or proof of means of subsistence;
-
Hold a travel insurance and health insurance valid for the duration of the stay covering hospital costs and medical repatriation;
-
Have no criminal record and allow criminal record verification;
-
Hold tertiary qualifications, or have successfully completed at least two (2) years of undergraduate university study.

Have a level of proficiency of Portuguese which is assessed as at least functional;
-
Provide a letter from the relevant ministry and a signed solemn statement.
Additional conditions to be fulfilled:

Not have previously taken part in the Program;

Staying for over 12 months will not be allowed;

Work is incidental to the holiday. Participants cannot work for more than six (6) months or have a permanent work contract;

The participation in training courses or professional development courses is allowed for the duration of up to four (4) months.
Canada
-
Submit an invididual application;
-
Hold a valid canadian passport;
-
Be between eighteen (18) and thirty-five (35) years of age inclusive;
-
Hold a return ticket or sufficient financial resources to cover its costs;
-
Sufficient financial resources to cover expenses for duration of the stay;
-
Adequate health insurance;
-
Additional documentation may be provided, such as: work offer; or registration in a high education or post-secondary institution; or declaration certifying intention to travel and work incidentally.
Additional conditions to be fulfilled:
- Work is incidental to the holiday. Participants have the right to provide paid services.
Chile
-
Hold a Chilean passport, valid for over 12 months;

Be between eighteen (18) and thirty (30) years of age inclusive, on the date of the application;

Will not be accompanied by any dependent;
-
Possess sufficient financial resources to support travel and the duration of their stay, including proof of return ticket or proof of means of subsistence;

Hold a travel insurance and health insurance valid for the duration of the stay covering hospital costs and medical repatriation;

Have no criminal record and allow criminal record verification;
Additional conditions to be fulfilled:

Work is incidental to the holiday. Participants must not engage in work that is contrary to the purpose of this Memorandum. Participants cannot work for more than six (6) months or have a permanent work contract, unless otherwise authorized.

The participation in training courses or professional development courses is allowed for the duration of up to four (4) months.
Japan
-
Be a Japanese citizen, and reside in Japan at the time of the application;

Hold a passport valid for over 12 months;
-
Be between eighteen (18) and thirty (30) years of age inclusive, on the date of the application;

Will not be accompanied by dependents;
-
Possess sufficient financial resources to support travel and the duration of their stay, including proof of return ticket or proof of means of subsistence;

Hold a travel insurance and health insurance valid for the duration of the stay covering hospital costs and medical repatriation;
-
Have no criminal record and allow criminal record verification.
Additional conditions to be fulfilled:

Not have previously taken part in the Program;
-
Requirement to leave after one (1) year, following date of arrival; extension not allowed;

Work is incidental to the holiday. Participants cannot have a permanent work contract;

Allowed to attend Portuguese language and/or culture courses.
New Zealand
-
Be a New Zealand citizen;
-
Hold a New Zealand passport valid for a period of over 12 months;
-
Be between eighteen (18) and thirty (30) years of age inclusive, on the date of the application;
-
Will not be accompanied by dependents;
-
Possess sufficient financial resources to support travel and the duration of their stay, including proof of return ticket or proof of means of subsistence;

Hold a travel insurance and health insurance valid for the duration of the stay covering hospital costs and medical repatriation;
-
Have no criminal record and allow criminal record verification.
Additional conditions to be fulfilled:

Not have previously taken part in the Program;
-
Primary purpose of the stay is holiday; employment contrary to the purpose of the Memorandum is not authorized.

Paid employment is authorized. However, participants cannot have a permanent work contract or work for the same employer for over three (3) months.

Participants are allowed to attend training courses or study programs of up to six (6) months.
Peru
-
Be a Peruvian citizen;
-
Hold a Peruvian passport valid for a period of over 12 months;
-
Be between eighteen (18) and thirty-one (31) years of age inclusive, on the date of the application;
-
Will not be accompanied by any dependent;
-
Hold a return ticket or available resources to purchase such a ticket;
-
Possess sufficient funds to cover the initial perido of the stay;
-
Comply with the necessary health requirements;
- Have no criminal record and allow criminal record verification.
Additional conditions to be fulfilled:

Hold a graduate degree or having successfully completed two (2) years of graduate studies.
- The main purpose of the stay is to enjoy holidays, work is incidental to the stay and cannot exceed six (6) months.
Republic of Korea
-
Be a Korean citizen;
-
Hold a Korean passport valid for a period of over 12 months;
-
Be between eighteen (18) and thirty (30) years of age inclusive, on the date of the application;
-
Will not be accompanied by any dependent;
-
Possess sufficient financial resources to support travel and the duration of their stay, including proof of return ticket or proof of means of subsistence;

Hold a travel insurance and health insurance valid for the duration of the stay covering hospital costs and medical repatriation;
-
Have no criminal record and allow criminal record verification.

Statement certifying the intention to travel and work only for the purposes of consolidating financial resources.
Additional conditions to be fulfilled:

Not have previously taken part in the Program;
-
Primary purpose of the stay is holiday; employment contrary to the purpose of the Memorandum is not authorized.
United States of America
-
Be a US citizen;
-
Hold a US passport valid for a period of over 12 months;
-
All travel expenses must be covered by the candidate, including return ticket or proof of sufficient funding for its purchase, as well as proof of funding to cover expenses for the entire duration of the stay;
-
Travel and health insure to cover all medical expenses, including hospitalization and medical repatriation, for the duration of the stay.

Have no criminal record and allow criminal record verification.
- Sign a Declaration stating that the visa application is done under the Memorandum of Understanding.
Additional conditions to be fulfilled:

Enrolled in a US accredited post-secondary institution or be recent graduates (within 12 months of graduation);
- Work is allowed for up to six (6) months.
